Sorolla gastro-cultural experience

In 1911 Joaquín Sorolla Bastida received the great commission to decorate the library of the Hispanic Society in New York. To do so, the painter travelled all over Spain, extracting from its people, its festivals, its landscapes and its gastronomy the motifs he would use in his canvases to complete such a great commission. The chef Jorge de Andrés has created the Sorolla Menu, Vision and Flavours of Spain, with the presentation of fourteen dishes inspired by the canvases of the Hispanic Society’s decoration, which has been awarded the prize for the best cultural and gastronomic project. In this gastronomic-cultural tour we will combine the contemplation of Sorolla’s canvases in the Museum of Fine Arts and the gastronomic experience of recreating Sorolla’s journey through Spain in a menu.
